nice dad. don't worry, 'pizzazzing' up a place takes time!! dont' rush to get it done...it will happen...just enjoy it. there is no deadline!
What about a big mirror over hutch? and a big glass bowl with some shells and sea glass to look Florida-ish. You need a reading light behind your big chair and ottoman. I love that chair. Looks comfy.
some reds and browns would look nice with bright flowery artwork on the wall... dont want it too dark for sunny florida - but those seem to be the tones of your furniture and pillows in the living area - maybe one dark accent wall with lighter shades on the other walls! mirrors and seashells are nice too!
