Proud Moments

April 23

Where does the time go? I just can't believe that I haven't made an entry since the beginning of this month.
I've been traveling so much that I almost can't remember where I've been.

From The Villages earlier this month I went to Fort Meyers with my good friends, John and Elaine Hammon from Napoleon, Ohio. John had to have some extensive lazer eye surgery done by one of 3 doctors in the country that can do that type of surgery. We stayed with our mutual friend, Marti. It was a very nice week with such good friends.

Let's see - what was next? Oh, we then drove back to The Villages to get my car and sleep - up early to go to Atlanta to see my daughter, Joy and her great family - very short visit.

On April 11 I departed from Atlanta to spend a night and morning with Shari, my other daughter, and her extended family in Marysville, Ohio. Long trip - another short visit.

Up for Easter worship with Shari and the Bickels - met the Ronschkes and then travelled to Cleveland to see the Cleveland Caveliers play the Boston Celtics. Yes, I have become a LeBron James and Cavs fan.

Stayed in Cleveland at Joel Ronschke's apt. - had a lot of fun and then travelled to New York City to visit with Grandma Hubmeier and see Aunt Phyllis and her family. Grandma is well - she says "Hi" to all and always loves hearing from you. I had a great 2 days at Aunt Fi Fi's. I participated in Alosha's Eagle Scout Ceremony - it was just fantastic - I was personally very proud of him. We then went back to Fi's house and had a good dinner with some very nice friends. Then back to Grandma's where I remain until tomorrow morning - 5 am - have to leave early to beat the city traffic - I should be at Shari's by 6 pm Friday night - surprise - anyone for shuffleboard?

I then begin the task of sorting 2 26 foot u-haul trucks of my belongings. I need help and suggestions. My deadline is May 22 when my family descends upon Marysville to "pick and choose" what they want and to help me prepare for a Garage Sale June 4-7. We''ll also have a lot of fun - eating, drinking and playing cornhole and just enjoying our growing family.

After June 7 I will begin the return to The Villages.

Suggestions

Just e-mail me or post comments as to color and pictures, curtains, furniture, lamps, paint etc. don't be offended if I don't like your comments but i'm open.

BTW, no one has made any suggestions as to my sign on my lawn or lamp post.

I'll show master bedroom and bathrooms at a later date.

Messy desk in study - I could get the 2nd pice that sits over the desk. Pull out couch in study. End tables, lamps, pictures?

Funky fan in study. Dresser in guest bedroom just sitting there.

Guest Bedroom - what to put on the walls? Cutains? Vertical blinds opening to the porch. Curtains?

Close up of small hutch.
empty wall to the right of entry way.

furniture and space

TV Console - 50 inch TV to be placed on it.
Hutch - needs stuff around and on it.

Big Chair - beyond it is blank wall to the right of the entry way. Couch and coffee table opposite the TV.
Couch is to its right.

April 3

I've been e-mailing so much that I haven't blogged in a while. shari, just starting blogging - that's inspired me to "pick up the pace".

So, I've been at The Villages since Tuesday. It's sstill pretty overwhelming - I'm not joking - I think it will take me at least a year to learn and experience every thing here. I'll get more involved when I get back in June. right now I am concentrating on getting the basics done around the house.

I got tired of showing the world my great body(lol) so I had blinds installed yesterday. 5 fans were also installed yesterday. I will need to paint, hang stuff on all the walls and add window curtains to give the rooms some pizazz - done in June and beyond - like years.

Shari, get ready for me to go through my belongings - I need lots of stuff. I think you will need room with Titus now moving in. Then I have to get my little sports car out of Tim's garage and have someone drive it to Florida.

A huge amount of traveling awaits me in the next 7 weeks - Ft. Myers, Fl, Atlanta, Columbus, Ohio, Cleveland(go Cavs), New York City, Mt. Sinai, NY, Detroit, Grosse Pointe Woods, Mi and Richwood, Ohio. I need thoughts on schedule between Michigan and Ohio and how to get my TV and car from Riverview and Grosse Pointe to Columbus. Who wants me? Who cares?

March 24

I am so thankful! Today I feel overwhelmed by the love of my family and the thought of beginning anew.

Joy and Shari, your comments of caring make me cry. I feel so loved and supported. Such timely words. And my boys, Chris and Tim - thanks for keeping me on track, financial advice and for all the phone calls. What a family!!!

Thursday starts a new life! I'm also starting a mini-contest. I want to have a small sign placed on my lawn near the front door. I'm looking for suggestions and then we'll take a poll - the winner gets a free dinner at The Villages. You have until April 30 to submit a saying such as Hub's House, Hub's Cozy Corner etc. Then we'll vote during the month of May.

When I get back to The Villages in June I'll have the sign made and placed on my lawn.

Many pictures and comments to follow during the next week.

March 20

Today is a somewhat pivotal day. I was finally approved for my mortgage - I know most of you thought i was already approved - well, someone in Bank of America headquarters gave me a hard time in the last two weeks - lots of questions, forms and proof of assets - it's tough now - all the "t's" need to be crossed and all the "i's" need to be dotted.

I close on the house next Thursday. Mom Schaaf and I head up there on Wed. - 149 miles. We stay until Sat. and then head back to Port St. Lucie.

On April 1 I go back to The Villages and prepare for the Hammons visit on April 4-5.

Then the Hammons and I travel to Ft. Myers where John will have several days of eye surgery. We will stay with good friend, Marti until Friday, April 10 and then visit Joy and the family for the night and continue our journey to Ohio on the 11th.

On Easter Sunday I will be with the Ronschkes in Cleveland to see the Cavs play the Boston Celtics. I'll stay in Cleveland for a day or two and then go to NY to visit Grandma Hubmeier and witness Alousha receive his Eagle Scout Award.

Then around the 21st head back to Michigan and Ohio to see family - Tim and Cathy - Luke and Shari - and then take on the task of going through 2 26 foot long truck loads of belongings and prepare for the entire family to visit in Marysville Memorial Day Weekend. This means all my children, spouses, dogs, grandchildren AND the Brandts from NY.

Garage Sale June 4-7 and then finally home for good in sunny Florida.

I really want visitors - so contact me and set up a date!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, I almost forgot - Aunt Gail is not going to Germany - She stood her ground andbasically told Sigfried he's
own - she used stronger words than mine! I'm proud of her and so thankful to have her back!!!

Tuesday, March 17, 2009

Aunt Gail's trip to Germany has been delayed a week.

I joined a new group - ha ha!

Look closely, that's Dennis Church to my left! Talk about a "square peg"in a round hole".

My Home in The Villages

March 14

Well, I'm back from The Villages and Ft. Myers. I got back seconds before I had to bowl - no "warm ups" - bowled 4 strikes in a row. After bowling and dinner I went to bed at 7:30pm until the morning - I was exhausted from traveling and enjoying Marti's company.

First night - fun with friends at Parrot Key!

Second day - traveled to The Villages - looked at new house - really still not finished - little things to finish - paint door - clean garage - hang chandeliers screens, on and on. Marti and I then went to Lowes and picked out window treatments -not colors yet but the style - then we surveyed all the fan choices - we need 5! When Grandma a nd I get back there on the 25th - the furniture will have arrived - we then will pick out colors of window treatments and style of fans . We then went to the furniture store and looked at my original order - cancelled one piece and replaced the TV console - thanks , Marti! My only disappoinment - we didn't have time to dine out in The Villages. We had a quick meal on the way to Aunt Gails - Macaroni Grill - tasty meal by the fire. Talked to Gail until 2:30 am!!!!!

Third Day - More traveling back to Ft. Myers - 250 miles - Marti made it fun. She made me dinner and then I proceeded to whoop her in Gin.

Final Day - More traveling - back to Pt. St. Lucie - exhausted!

Fun Night at Parrot Key - Ft. Myers, Florida

Marti and I joined some old friends from St. Paul at a nice restaurant on the water in Ft. Myers. The friends are Judy and Terry Waple(bottom right hand corner) - original friends when the Hubmeiers arrived at St. Paul in 1985. They also helped me a lot with the Youth. The other friends are Naomi and Bob Culp(bottom left) - good friends of Linda and mine - They introduced us to a lot of great restaurants plus Naomi cooked me some fabulous meals at home plus Bob helped me with visits to the sick in hospitals. Also there were Pat and Jim Burns(back end of table) - very nice people from St. Paul. I'm the only one with sun glasses and Marti is to my right.

March 7

All is quiet in sunny Florida! Grandma and I have been having fun bowling in 2 leagues and going to the arcades.

I'm still going to the foot doctor. I now have achilles tendonitis in my left foot along with planters fascitis in the right - I have to get in better shape for The Villages!!!!

Next week I'm traveling over to Ft. Myers to see old friends from St. Paul - Culps and Waples. I will also be seeing my good friend Marti! I'll be there from Monday night until Friday morning. During that time Marti and I will be traveling to The Villages for a day and a half - this will be my first chance to see the house completed. I will also get to see my sister, Gail just before she leaves with Sigfried for Germany for 3 weeks.

Closing on the home is March 26.

Feb. 26

Thank you Lord! Chris and Sarah are pregnant! Such good news - the baby is due
Nov. 4. That's pretty close to when Christopher arrived on Thanksgiving Day 34 years ago!

Still didn't get any pictures of the home in The Villages. Soon, I hope.

Found out yesterday that Aunt Phyllis, Uncle Bob and Alusha will be visiting Shari , Luke and me on Memorial Day weekend. By then I will have gone through most of my belongings and prepared for the "moving" garage sale the next weekend.

The Hammons are coming to Florida in April - we should be able to spend a night or two at my new home.

Traveling to Ft. Meyers March 10 to see some friends from St. Paul - Culps and Churchs. Marti, my friend in Ft. Meyers will join me for dinner with my other friends. Fun.

Closing on the home March 26.

Heading to Cleveland April 12 (Easter) to see the Cavs play the Celtics - huge game - thais , if you like pro baasketball. Prior to that spend a day with my daughter in Atlanta. After Cleveland I'm going to NY to see my step mom and celebrate my nephew's induction into the Eagle Scouts. (April 18). Shortly after all that I go back to Michigan and Ohio to see Tim, Cathy, Shari and Luke and as said, go through "tons" of belongings. It looks like I will be bringing very little to Florida. This will be a big project and take me about a month to complete.

I should be back in Florida around June 10. I' ll then stay there until I go back to Michigan on August 1 for Cathy Hubmeier's brothers wedding. On July 3 Joy and family may visit me and then spend a week at the timeshare in New Smyrna Beach. The timeshare is only about 2 hours from new new home!

Aunt Phyllis and family visit in Cocoa Beach some time in August. I hope they get a chance to visit me. I will probably spend a day or two with them in CB.

I WANT visitors. If you ever want to see me and experience an awesome community just let me know. Even if I'm not there you could stay at my house. I really mean that. I'm only 55 miles from DisneyWorld. You will not believe what awaits you. It's one of those things that's hard to describe - you have to be there and experience it.

Feb. 24

Today is a big day! Sarah and Chris find out if they are pregnant! Should know about noon time. It's in the Lord's hands.

I should be receiving my first pictures of my new home - due to be completed March 26 - today.

Aunt Phyllis is trying to arrange a trip to Columbus, Ohio - Memorial Day weekend - unable to reach Shari as her phone numbers were accidently deleted from my new phone. Uncle Bob and Alusha would be there as well.

Updates on all of the above should be sent by this evening.
